The
SeniorNet Regional (Canterbury) meeting was held at the Papanui Club on
Friday 13th April co hosted by SeniorNet Mac and SeniorNet Northwest. The day was well attended by area members. Grant
Sidaway provided an update of the NZ Federation of SeniorNets
Society activities, their regular Newsletter as well as future funding requirements.
The
Federation of Seniornets Society Regional Representative, John Butler
addressed the gathering with the process of representation and
expressing his support for the future.
An interesting day with
many spot prize raffles to lighten the day.
![]() The latest operating system, Microsoft
Vista was presented by the local Northwood Harvey Norman representative Simon Radtke who
outlined how exciting this new product will be. Grant Sidaway
pointed out that members buying a PC will only be using this
product (Vista) and our new training material will need to reflect both Vista
and XP. That means a lot of work ahead for all the
SeniorNet clubs.
Stephen
Wright, National Marketing Manager for Magnum Mac Ltd provided a very
interesting address entitled "Marketing ideas for Clubs and Societies"
the main point being SeniorNet is a well known name, well respected but
not just for learning how to use a computer but also the interaction of
clubs and club members in many activities.
A
magnificent luncheon was provided in the Peppertree Restaurant for all
to enjoy, included as part of the cost for the day. Many thanks to all
those who participated in the day and also to those who provided
assistance or equipment on loan.
